I have left you behind,
In the path of the past,
With the white breath of flowers,
With the best of God's hours,
I have left you at last.

Scatter me not to the restless winds
Nor toss my ashes to the sea.
Remember now those years gone by
When loving gifts I gave to thee.
Remember now the happy times
The family ties are shared.
Don't leave my resting place unmarked
As though you never cared.
Deny me not one final gift
For all who came to see.
A simple lasting proof that says
I loved and you loved me.
(an excerpt from "The Final Gift" by Irish poet D.H. Cramer)

"And I shall hear, tho' soft you tread above me, and oh my grave will warm and sweeter be, if you'll not fail to tell me that you love me, I'll simply sleep in peace until you come to me."

In Loving Memory of You

Quietly I'm remembering you
in the silence of my heart.
Each thought of you, a treasure
while we are now apart.

At times I'm filled with longing;
Your face I'd love to see,
To feel your warmth, to hear your voice,
to have you here with me.

But God has a plan; He created you
and numbered all your days.
May he hold you in His loving arms
and surround me with His grace.

With the hope of reunion in Heaven one day,
I entrust you in His care.
Cherished memories of you live on in my heart.
Your life is a gift we share.

Thus, when the lamp that lighted
The traveller, at first, goes out,
He feels a while benighted,
And looks round in fear and doubt.
But soon, the prospect clearing,
By cloudless starlight on he treads,
And thinks no lamp so cheering
As that light which Heaven sheds
(an excerpt from "I'd Mourn the Hopes" by Iris poet Thomas Moore)

Other than her cooking and her church the other love of her life was her job with Pafford Funeral Home's of Lexington and Scotts Hill, TN. This was a perfect job and calling for her as she always did put others first and working with families during the most difficult times in their lives when they had lost a love one was very special, precious and perfect for my mother.

  An Old Irish Blessing
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
